Who Needs The Authorware Web Player?
Some of the original courses require the Authorware Web Player first be installed on the computer used for training in order for viewing the lessons and experiencing the animations, simulations, and interactivity.  The newer HTML-based courses no longer require the Authorware Web Player be installed, making it even easier to access the training on any PC connected to the Internet.

Courses Requiring The Authorware Web Player
The following courses do require the Authorware Web Player:  Microsoft Windows ME, Windows NT, Microsoft Office 97 (Word 97, Excel 97, Access 97, Outlook 98, PowerPoint 97), and all the Specialty Courses including Project, FrontPage, Works, Digital Imaging, Lotus Notes, QuickBooks Pro, Quicken, Palm, Pocket PC, and Using the Internet.

You can Click Here to install the Authorware Web Player, or click the link or icon in the Login Page. It takes about 12 minutes with a 56K modem and installs much faster with higher speed connection. You will only need to do this once.

Courses That Do NOT Need The Web Player
The following courses do not require the Authorware Web Player:  Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP and above, Microsoft Office 2000 (Word 2000, Excel 2000, Access 2000, Outlook 2000, PowerPoint 2000) , Microsoft Office XP (Word 2002, Excel 2002, Access 2002, Outlook 2002, PowerPoint 2002) and above, plus any new courses that are added (such as Office 2003 when available).

NOTE:  If you install the Authorware Web Player, you can still use all the newer HTML-Based courses, plus you can then use the older software lessons as well as Specialty Courses.

How Are The Authorware and HTML Versions Different?
The training content remains identical in both versions. The new HTML version has a more simplified menu, and no longer has a settings for switching to either Practice or Slide Show mode (these were features hardly ever used).

When you are in an Authorware-Based lesson,  you will see these menu items at the top left corner of the window.  You have the option of changing the learning mode from "Standard" to either "Practice" or "Slide Show", but you'll most always just use "Standard" mode.  You can use the Next and Back buttons to navigate through the training, and click "Exit" when you wish to end the training session.

To learn how to use the Authorware-based version of the training, you can click on the small right triangle (to the right of the "Standard" mode) to pop up more menu choices and then select "User Guide".  The User Guide will explain all the features of the Web-Based Training and how to use them.

When you are in an HTML-Based lesson, you will see these menu items have been simplified; you no longer have "mode" settings or a separate settings menu.  There is a small speaker  icon to toggle turning sound narration on/off, and a small "x" icon to Exit the training.  The "?" icon brings  up the User Guide for instructions on using the HTML version of the training. The Glossary is now located right on your Student Menu, available before you start any lessons.
